Primary Attorney—Stuart J. Alterman, Esquire
A former municipal police officer, county corrections officer, and Municipal Prosecutor, Stuart J. Alterman has represented police officers for more than 25 years in all areas of employment issues. In addition, he is an annual lecturer at the PBA Collective Bargaining Seminars.
Mr. Alterman received a BA in Political Science from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, in 1982 and a Juris Doctorate from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, in 1986. He was admitted to the State Bar of New Jersey in 1987 and received a pro hoc admission to the State Bar of Florida in 2008. With an emphasis in labor law, employment, civil, and administrative law, Mr. Alterman assists with a wide variety of legal matters involving teachers, such as tenures, public employment, pensions, grievances, FLMA issues, and contract negotiations.
Public Appointments
From 1991-2005, Mr. Alterman served as a Matrimonial Early Settlement Panelist for Camden County, New Jersey. He served as a Municipal Prosecutor for Haddon Heights, New Jersey, from 2000–2001. Starting in 2003, he became a member of the Presidential Business Commission.
